  1. Set the phase rings on H
  2. Turn on light to the microscope (external box)
  3. Focus on an H/E slide
  4. Close down the Field Diaphragm ( bottom black ring at base of stage)
  5. Adjust the height of the condenser using small knob at back under the stage ( the only dial other than the focus knob) until you get a sharp hexagon shape
  6. Center the hexagon with the two silver knobs that project at 45o towards you under the stage
  7. Expand the field diaphragm to the edge of the visual field
  8. Turn on power to the camera box (switch at back)
  9. Press button marked Frame
  10. Pull out the camera light knob one stop (on right of microscope immediately above the UV light selector slide bar)
  11. Focus the eye pieces on the cross hairs
  12. Focus the image perfectly on the microscope
  13. Bring the camera into alignment with the microscope by using an allan key to adjust the central ring till the image on the lower monitor looks sharp. If there is a dark patch on one side the camera body is not straight.

ONCE THIS IS SET UP -- ONLY THE CROSS HAIRS SHOULD REQUIRE ADJUSTMENT FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER
